FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why are you building in Sudan and not somewhere else?

Dr. Jill Seaman is from Bethel, Alaska. Her friends and other Alaskans can help her. Jill is the person in the field to help the project move forward. Also, the needs in Sudan are greater than most other countries. If you would like to help, please consider making a contribution to the Alaska Sudan Medical Project. Thank you.

Will you support operations?

Jill currently has an organization in place to support operations. Operations is not our focus. However we may help support operations in the future should the need arise.

TOP
Who will own the building?

The land has been donated by the government for Jill's work. The new building will be used exclusively for that purpose.

TOP
Will the South Sudanese government take over the new building like they are going to do with the current one?

The current building has always belonged to the government. It was simply loaned by the government for Jill's work until a new building could be built. The land and the new building have been dedicated by the government solely for medical work.

TOP
Who will fund operations of the facility?

Crosscurrents International Institute is currently funding operations. They will continue to do so.

TOP
What if war occurs?

The Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed in January 2005 and the peace has been maintained. If the war was to recur, Old Fangak probably would suffer little damage, as it suffered little during the prior 20 years of war.

Will you build more health centers?

We will look at other needy areas as they arise and as we have the capacity to respond. Each situation will be evaluated on an individual basis.

TOP
Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes. Your contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. ASMP is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3).

How will I know that Alaska Sudan Medical Project received my donation?

On-line contributions to the Alaska Sudan Medical Project receive an automated e-mail reply immediately when completing the donation process. This e-mail serves as the transaction receipt for both your financial record-keeping and for IRS tax exemption purposes.

If you donate by check, we send a printed acknowledgement letter on Alaska Sudan Medical Project letterhead that serves as your IRS acknowledgement for tax purposes.
